…BOTH CAUSE PRINT DEFECTS!
THE PROBLEM: In the "real world" of pad printing the silicone pads act just like a magnet and they will readily pick-up dust and other contaminants in the workplace, which in-turn causes print defects in the form of; pin-holes, missing graphics and small voids in the graphics. A skilled pad printing machine operator knows that these contaminants always end up on the pads printing face and they will continually stop production to manually clean the pads surface (some use solvents and some use tape).
The problems are further compounded when the printing ink is not mixed or maintained properly by adding thinner to the cup at the right time intervals and correct amount. So inevitably during the printing process some residual ink will remain on the print pad after printing and that 'tacky' (dry) ink will be cycled back into the 'good' ink reservoir thereby contaminating the ink inside the sealed ink cup.
THE SOLUTION: Was first developed by microPrint back in the early 90’s and we offer tape pad cleaning modules on all of their pad transfer equipment. The tape pad cleaning modules use a roll-to-roll fed motor driven system that is seamlessly integrated. These pad cleaning systems use normal packing tape (de-ionized so they don’t introduce static) that is fed onto a spindle and a motor automatically advances the tape forward at a programmable length (adjustable timer). Simple and easy to use and maintain without production stoppage.
