After the ink, hardener and appropriate thinner are mixed, the Visco Spatula turns ink consistency into a repeatable flow-time check.

Ink Viscosity Control

Read the result, then make a controlled adjustment.

Use flow time as a repeatable production reference. The best target is the condition that produces the approved transfer, opacity, edge quality and drying behavior for the specific job.

Flow too slow

Ink may be too viscous.

Mix thoroughly first. If needed, add the correct thinner in small increments, remix and retest.

Target condition

Repeat the approved flow time.

Record the flow time that produces an accepted print and use it as the setup reference for repeat production.

Flow too fast

Ink may be over-thinned.

Stop adding solvent and recheck the mixture against the ink technical data sheet and approved setup.

Pad printing depends on controlled solvent evaporation and clean transfer from the cliché to the silicone pad and then to the part. Use the ~8-second benchmark as a starting reference and document the approved job condition.

Processing note: Deco Tech's Visco Spatula bulletin lists approximately 5–8% thinner by weight as a typical pad-printing starting point. The correct amount can vary by Printcolor ink series, color, hardener, ambient conditions, artwork, cliché depth and production setup. Always follow the technical data sheet for the specific ink.
